  1. Yarden,

Both your image and your 1+3+9 lead me to suggest that you look into Rob Pfaffman's proposal to save the Civic Arena. (look here: http://www.popcitymedia.com/features/arena0812.aspx ). But I suspect that you may already have this in mind already... Which to me seems like a great thesis project, actually.

I know Luis C cautioned you against moving too quickly towards specificity, and in general I might agree. I would temper that warning however, by suggesting that you look into two parallel paths. First, learn all you can about the Hill, without over-romanticizing the past and while contextualizing the devastation that occurred there. Second, look to other great (where great equals large, not necessarily fantastic) adaptive reuse projects, across history (Hagia Sophia, Mosque at Cordova, Temple Mount/Dome of the Rock, the city wall of Lucca, Italy), and also contemporary projects whereby modernist building and/or infrastructure are being reused rather than removed.

    Rami
